Terms of Service
These are the terms you agree to by using ScryingEye. They are written to be read, in the same plain language as our Privacy page. If anything is unclear, email us before you agree to it.
What ScryingEye is
ScryingEye is a campaign management tool for tabletop roleplaying games. You keep your world in it: NPCs, locations, factions, lore, sessions, threads, and player characters. An AI co-pilot, the Eye, answers questions about that world. ScryingEye is currently a closed beta.
Who can use it
- You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 13, you may not use ScryingEye.
- During the beta, access requires an invite. Beta testers may also be asked to sign a separate agreement, which applies in addition to these terms.
- You must give us accurate account information and keep your password to yourself.
Your account
You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you believe someone else has access to it, change your password in Settings or email us. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.
Your content stays yours
- Everything you create in ScryingEye belongs to you. We claim no ownership over your campaigns, characters, or worlds.
- You give us only the license we need to run the service: to host your content, back it up, display it to you, and send the relevant slice of it to our AI provider when you ask the Eye a question.
- We never sell your content and never use it to train models of our own. Our AI provider processes your content to answer your questions; during the beta its standard tier may use submissions to improve its services, exactly as described on the Privacy page.
- You can export everything as Markdown or delete it, anytime, in Settings.
The Eye writes drafts, not truth
- The Eye is an AI. It can be wrong, it can invent details, and it can misread your world. Treat its output as a draft to review, not a fact to rely on.
- You decide what enters your campaign. You are responsible for how you use what the Eye writes.
- If an answer is bad, your remedy is simple: discard it and ask again. We are not liable for losses that come from relying on unverified AI output.
Fair use of the service
Do not:
- Use ScryingEye for anything unlawful, or store content you have no right to store.
- Upload another person's private information without their consent.
- Probe, overload, scrape, or disrupt the service, or bypass its limits and access gates.
- Attempt to extract our prompts or the models behind the Eye.
- Resell access to ScryingEye.
Our content and the 5e rules
- The ScryingEye application, its design, and its branding belong to us. These terms give you no right to use them outside the service.
- Fifth-edition mechanics shown in the character sheet view are SRD content used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. Everything else in your campaign is content you entered yourself.
- ScryingEye is an independent tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Wizards of the Coast.
Beta realities
- ScryingEye is under active development. Features will change, break, and occasionally disappear.
- We work hard to protect your data, but beta software carries real risk of loss. The export tool in Settings is always available; use it.
- The beta is free. If we introduce paid tiers, we will say so clearly before charging anyone anything.
Ending things
- You can stop using ScryingEye anytime. Export your data first, then delete your campaigns in Settings or email us to delete your account.
- We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms. Where reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to export.
- Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination (your content rights, liability limits, governing law) survive it.
No warranties
ScryingEye is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the Eye will be accurate.
Limits on liability
To the maximum extent the law allows: we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim related to ScryingEye is capped at the greater of fifty US dollars or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Georgia, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
When these terms change
Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with a new date. If you continue to use ScryingEye after a change you accept the updated terms; if you do not, the export and delete tools in Settings are always available.
